REQUIREMENTS
Proof of Sacraments
If your child was not baptized or received 1st Penance or 1st Holy
Communion in any of the Frackville Catholic Churches, you must provide a copy of sacramental proof to the Parish Office or PREP Office.
Letter to the Bishop
Each student will write a letter to Bishop Schlert outlining why they want to be confirmed and thanking him for doing so.
Inscription Service
Our 8th grade confirmandi will participate in an Inscription Service on Sunday, September 11 beginning at 6 pm in Annunciation Church. Parents are invited to attend. Each of the candidates for the Sacrament will sign the "Book of the Elect" indicating their desire to be confirmed and renewing their Baptismal promises. Dismissal will be from the Church.
Reception
A light reception will follow Confirmation. You are cordially invited to attend and meet the Bishop or have your picture taken with him.
Sponsor/ Certificate of Eligibility
1. Sponsor must be a practicing Catholic and registered in a Parish
2. Certificate of eligibility must be issued by Parish of registration
3. Sponsor MAY NOT be the parent/step parent of the child being confirmed
4. Sponsor must be a minimum 16 years of age (as per Canon Law)
5. Sponsor must have received all 3 Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Eucharist, Confirmation)
Service Hours
10 hours per student as required by our Pastors. Service hours cannot include "good will gestures" for family members (i.e. - babysitting one's siblings, household chores,
running errands for grandparents/ other relatives, etc.).
*Volunteering at Vacation Bible School will help to defray the number of hours needed.
**If your child/children have already completed their service hours, proof of those hours must be provided along with contact name and phone number.
Dress Code
Red Confirmation Robes (similar to graduation robes) will be provided to all students receiving the Sacrament. The robes are rental only and must be returned immediately following Confirmation.
Boys: Dress pants (khakis are permitted -no cargo pants), dress shirt, and tie. Dress shoes. No sneakers!
Girls: Dress, skirt or dress slacks and blouse/sweater. Please be conscious of the length of the skirt/dress. No strapless dresses or low necklines. Dress shoes. No sneakers!
Day of Confirmation
All children should be at the Church Hall on the day of Confirmation no
later than 4:00 pm. We will have final instructions at that time.
Choice of Confirmation (Saint) Name
Essay on Saint: 200 words, hand-written, to be completed no later than September 12, 2021. Essays must include patronage information, reason for choosing the Saint, and the feast day. Typed essays will be returned.
Confirmation Retreat
All Confirmandi are required to attend a Retreat at Marian High School. Mass will be celebrated following the retreat. This will fulfill your Sunday obligation.
Questions
Your children should have been studying questions that Bishop Schlert will ask prior to the Rite of Confirmation. We will continue learning the questions weekly. Please review the questions with your children at home.
